D profile or Round profile?
Both profiles are the same price and share the same lengths; they differ in section only. The D profile sits flat against the door with a rounded outer face — the wood match to JWL’s ‘I’ and ‘L’ stainless bar pulls, and the choice for a squared, architectural line. The Round profile is a full radius bar that reads softer and is the natural partner to the ‘J’ series comfort-grip pulls. Narrow bars suit drawers, pantries and appliance panels; wide bars suit full-height doors, barn doors and anywhere the handle carries the door’s weight.
Installation
Thru-bolt mounting pulls the handle tight to the door face with no visible fasteners on the grip side; hardware for 3/4" to 2-1/4" doors ships in the box. Drill at the listed center-to-center. For thicker slabs, request longer screws at checkout or by email. For handles on both faces of a door, or for glass, see the Wood Door Handle – Back to Back.
Finish guidance
Clear-finish oak and walnut arrive sealed and ready to install; uncoated handles arrive raw for site-finishing to match millwork. Custom stains are available on oak. Add a Satin Brass PVD, Matte Black or stainless backplate to tie the wood into the finish of your metal cabinet pulls.
Frequently asked
How far does the wood handle project from the door?
2 inches (51 mm) from the face of the door to the outside of the handle on all thru-bolt and single-sided JWL wood handles. Back-to-back sets with metal backplates project 2 3/8 inches (60 mm) including the backplate.
What is the difference between the D profile and the Round profile?
The D profile has a flat back and a rounded face, so it sits close to the door and reads as a slim bar. The Round profile is a full round bar. Both come in narrow and wide widths and in the same white oak and walnut options; choose from the profile menu on this page.
Can I use this handle on a panel-ready refrigerator or dishwasher?
Yes. The thru-bolt mount is designed for appliance panels, pantry doors and swing doors. Panel or door thickness from 3/4″ to 2 1/4″ is supported. Check that the center-to-center spacing matches your panel layout; CAD and PDF drawings are in the Downloads section.
Which wood finish should I choose?
Clear oak keeps the natural pale tone; stained oak is darker and warmer; walnut is naturally chocolate-brown. All three are sealed. Order the uncoated option if you want to match an existing stain on site. Wood samples are available to trade accounts.
Where are JWL wood handles made and how long do they take to ship?
Each handle is made in-house in Vancouver, BC from North American white oak or walnut. In-stock sizes ship in 1–3 workdays; custom lengths need a 3-week lead time and a 10-unit minimum. Free shipping on orders over $500. Covered by JWL’s limited lifetime residential warranty.
