The ‘I’ is a straight-bar door handle in hand-welded solid 304 stainless steel with a thru-bolt mount, a 2″ (51 mm) projection from the door face and three lengths: 18 1/2″, 24 1/2″ and 30 1/2″ (18″, 24″ and 30″ center to center). It is the usual choice for integrated refrigerator and freezer panels, tall pantry doors and swing doors where a long vertical line suits the elevation. Both ends of the ‘I’ are straight, so the handle reads as one uninterrupted bar. The 1″ x 1/2″ D-section sits flat against the door with the rounded face in the hand. The ‘J’ (one squared end) and ‘L’ (both ends squared) share the same bar, lengths and finishes, so profiles can be mixed across appliance panels, pantry doors and cabinetry.
Two thru-bolts fix the handle from the back of the door or appliance panel; nothing shows on the face. Connection hardware for doors 3/4″ to 2 1/4″ thick is included. Drill at the center-to-center spacing shown on the DWG or PDF drawing in Downloads. Optional colour-matched or split-finish backplates are sold separately; for a handle on both faces, use the back-to-back set.
Solid 304 stainless steel resists corrosion in kitchens and bathrooms. Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Avoid chlorine-based cleaners and abrasive pads, particularly on the Matte Black, Satin Brass PVD and White coated finishes. Check the thru-bolts once a year and snug them if the door has moved.
Match the handle to the panel height and the drilling in the appliance panel. The 30 1/2″ handle (30″ center to center) suits full-height refrigerator and freezer columns; 24 1/2″ (24″ C/C) suits standard fridge doors and tall pantry doors; 18 1/2″ (18″ C/C) suits freezer drawers and shorter doors. Yes. Thru-bolt mounting is the standard method for panel-ready appliance doors, where the handle bolts through the custom panel rather than the appliance. Confirm the panel is 3/4″–2 1/4″ thick and choose a length whose center-to-center spacing works with the panel; the appliance brand does not matter.
Fixing hardware for doors and panels from 3/4″ (19 mm) to 2 1/4″ (57 mm) thick is included with every thru-bolt handle. That range covers standard interior doors, appliance panels and most millwork. For thicker doors, contact JWL for longer bolts before ordering.
2″ (51 mm) from the door face to the outside of the bar, on every length. If you need handles on both faces of a door, the back-to-back set projects 2″ per side without backplates or 2 3/8″ (60 mm) per side with the optional backplates.
All five finishes — Brushed, Polished, Matte Black, Satin Brass PVD and White — are shared across JWL door handles, back-to-back sets and cabinet pulls, so one finish can run through a whole kitchen. Brushed and Polished are bare 304 stainless; Matte Black, Satin Brass PVD and White are coatings over the stainless. Order a hardware sample if you need to check colour against your cabinetry.
