Measure existing holes before ordering: ‘J’ and ‘L’ spacing is in inches (126/190/254/318 mm), a few millimetres off the 128/192/256/320 mm metric standard. As a rule of thumb, keep the pull at one-third to one-half of the front width and step sizes within the series, so one profile covers a whole kitchen.
Profile
Both pulls use the same 1/2″ x 1/4″ bar, hand-welded from solid 304 stainless steel with no visible fixings. The ‘J’ and ‘L’ are mirror images of one another: identical bar and squared ends, with the return running the opposite way. Use one on its own, or pair them so the returns mirror across a pair of doors or a run of drawers. Both line up visually with JWL’s ‘J’ and ‘L’ door handles and appliance handles in the same finish.
Installation
Two 1 7/8″ break-off 8-32 screws are included with each pull. Drill two 5 mm holes at the center-to-center spacing of the size ordered (126, 190, 254 or 318 mm), snap each screw at the groove closest to the front thickness, and tighten from inside the drawer or door. Standard 3/4″ (19 mm) fronts need no extra hardware; for unusually thick fronts, buy longer 8-32 machine screws locally. DWG, 3D and PDF spec sheet downloads are on the page.
Frequently asked
What is the difference between the ‘J’ and the ‘L’ cabinet pull?
Only the handing. The ‘J’ and ‘L’ are mirror images of one another: both have squared ends on the same bar, with the return on opposite sides. Bar section, projection, sizes, finishes and price are identical, so they can be mixed across one kitchen or paired so the returns mirror across two doors.
Which size do I need?
5″ (126 mm) suits upper cabinets, small drawers and vanity doors. 7.5″ (190 mm) suits standard drawer banks, base cabinet doors and pantry doors. 10″ (254 mm) suits pot drawers, wide base cabinets and dishwasher panels. 12.5″ (318 mm) suits the widest drawers, integrated fridge fronts and appliance panels. All four share the same 1″ projection, 1/2″ x 1/4″ bar section and five finishes, so you can mix sizes across one kitchen without a visible change in profile.
Will this pull fit holes drilled for another brand?
Only if the existing holes are 126, 190, 254 or 318 mm apart (5″, 7.5″, 10″ or 12.5″). Many fronts are drilled to the metric standard (128, 192, 256 or 320 mm), which is a few millimetres off and will not align. For metric-drilled fronts choose the JWL ‘I’ cabinet pull; for new fronts, drill 5 mm holes at the spacing of the size ordered.
How far does the pull stand off the front, and will it clear appliances and adjacent doors?
Projection is 1″ (25 mm) from the front face to the outside of the bar on every size, with roughly 3/4″ of finger clearance behind it. That is low enough to clear most fridge and dishwasher doors and to avoid clashing at inside corners, but check corner cabinets where two fronts meet at 90 degrees.
Do the finishes match JWL door handles and appliance handles?
Yes. Brushed, Polished, Matte Black, Satin Brass PVD and White are the same five finishes used across JWL’s ‘I’, ‘J’, ‘L’, ‘U’ and ‘P’ door handles, appliance handles and the ‘T’ Series knob, all on 304 stainless steel. Order every item in the same finish name and it will match; see the hardware samples page to confirm colour before a large order.
What is the lead time, and what warranty applies?
In-stock orders ship in 1-3 workdays from Vancouver, BC, to Canada and the US, with free shipping on orders over $500. JWL cabinet pulls carry a limited lifetime residential warranty on materials and workmanship; commercial use is covered 5 years for brushed stainless and 2 years for coated finishes.
