Frequently asked

Will a back-to-back set fit a 2-inch thick entry door?

Yes. Back-to-back sets for solid doors include M5 bolts and threaded rod for doors from 3/4″ to 2 1/4″ (19–57 mm), which covers 1 3/4″ and 2″ entry doors. For doors under 1 3/8″, the rod is cut to length. Each handle projects 2″ (51 mm) from its face.

What are the escutcheon backplates for?

Each set ships with optional larger profiled backplates that sit between handle and door. They give a more traditional footprint, cover old hardware holes and spread load on softer woods. With backplates fitted, projection becomes 2 3/8″ (60 mm) per side; without them it is 2″ (51 mm).

Which length suits a front door?

A 30 1/2″ set is typical on an 84″–96″ entry door; 24 1/2″ on standard 80″ doors; 18 1/2″ on narrow or half-height doors. Handles can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Confirm that the door leaf is at least 4″ wider than the handle’s end-to-end footprint when mounted horizontally.

Which finishes are available?

All stainless handles and pulls come in five finishes: Brushed, Polished, Matte Black, Satin Brass PVD and White. The same five finishes run across cabinet pulls, appliance handles, door handles and glass door handles, so one finish can be carried through a kitchen, bathroom and closet without mixing suppliers.

How fast do orders ship, and what is the warranty?

In-stock orders ship in 1–3 workdays from Vancouver, BC to Canada and the US, with free shipping on orders over $500. Stainless handles carry a limited lifetime residential warranty on materials and workmanship (commercial: 5 yr brushed stainless, 2 yr coated). Full terms are at jwlhome.com/warranty.
