Profile

The ‘I’ profile is a straight bar with both ends cut square and no return to the door, so nothing projects beyond the 1″ stand-off. The bar section is 1/2″ x 1/4″, hand-welded from solid 304 stainless steel. It is the most minimal of the three JWL cabinet pull profiles and suits flat-front, handleless-look millwork where the pull should read as a single line.

Sizing

Center to center is 256 mm (10″); measure existing holes before ordering, because JWL’s ‘I’ spacing is 128/192/256/320 mm, the common metric standard. Use this size for pot drawers, wide base cabinets and dishwasher panels. As a rule of thumb, keep the pull at one-third to one-half of the front width and step sizes within the series.

Installation

Two 1 7/8″ break-off 8-32 screws are included. Drill two 5 mm holes at 256 mm (10″) on center, snap each screw at the groove closest to the front thickness, and tighten from inside the drawer or door. Standard 3/4″ (19 mm) fronts need no extra hardware; for unusually thick fronts, buy longer 8-32 machine screws locally. DWG, 3D and PDF spec sheet downloads are on the page.

Frequently asked

Which ‘I’ Series size do I need, and what are the other sizes?

The I256 is 256 mm (10″) center to center and suits pot drawers, wide base cabinets and dishwasher panels. The other ‘I’ Series sizes are 5″ (128 mm) at https://jwlhome.com/product/cabinet-pull-128-mm/; 7.5″ (192 mm) at https://jwlhome.com/product/cabinet-pull-192mm/; 12-5/8″ (320 mm) at https://jwlhome.com/product/cabinet-pull-320mm/. All four share the same 1″ projection, 1/2″ x 1/4″ bar section and five finishes, so you can mix sizes across one kitchen without a visible change in profile.

Will this pull fit holes drilled for another brand?

Yes if the existing holes are 256 mm apart, the common metric standard used by most cabinet makers. Hole diameter should be about 3/16″ (5 mm) for the included 8-32 screws. If your fronts were drilled in inches (for example 5″ or 7.5″), check JWL’s ‘J’ or ‘L’ Series, which use inch spacing.

How far does the pull stand off the front, and will it clear appliances and adjacent doors?

Projection is 1″ (25 mm) from the front face to the outside of the bar, with roughly 3/4″ of finger clearance behind it. That is low enough to clear most fridge and dishwasher doors and to avoid clashing at inside corners, but check corner cabinets where two fronts meet at 90 degrees.

Do the finishes match JWL door handles and appliance handles?

Yes. Brushed, Polished, Matte Black, Satin Brass PVD and White are the same five finishes used across JWL’s ‘I’, ‘J’, ‘L’, ‘U’ and ‘P’ door handles, appliance handles and the ‘T’ Series knob, all on 304 stainless steel. Order every item in the same finish name and it will match; see the hardware samples page to confirm colour before a large order.

What is the lead time, and what warranty applies?

In-stock orders ship in 1-3 workdays from Vancouver, BC, to Canada and the US, with free shipping on orders over $500. JWL cabinet pulls carry a limited lifetime residential warranty on materials and workmanship; commercial use is covered 5 years for brushed stainless and 2 years for coated finishes.
