A 3″ ‘U’ door handle in hand-welded solid 304 stainless steel with a concealed thru-bolt mount and a 2″ (51 mm) projection from the door face; one size, 3″ (76 mm) center to center and 3 1/2″ overall. The short ‘U’ is for doors that need a real grip but no visual length: dishwasher and beverage-fridge panels, narrow pantry doors, and cabinet doors that sit next to a full-height handle and should not compete with it. Profile

The ‘U’ is a symmetrical return: both ends of the 1″ x 1/2″ D-section bar turn back to the door, so the handle reads as a small, closed loop rather than a bar with ends. It uses the same bar section, 2″ projection and five finishes as the 18–30″ ‘I’, ‘J’ and ‘L’ handles, so it works as the short member of a set.

Installation

Two thru-bolts from the back of the door or panel; no visible fasteners on the face. Connection hardware for doors 3/4″ to 2 1/4″ thick is included. Drill two holes at the spacing on the DWG or PDF drawing in Downloads. On panel-ready appliances the handle bolts through the custom panel, not the appliance door.

Care

Solid 304 stainless steel resists corrosion in kitchens and bathrooms. Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap and dry. Avoid chlorine-based cleaners and abrasive pads on the coated Matte Black, Satin Brass PVD and White finishes. Check thru-fixings once a year and snug them if the door has moved.

Is 3 inches the overall length or the center-to-center spacing?

3″ (76 mm) is the center-to-center hole spacing. The handle measures 1″W x 3.5″L x 1.5″H, so the bar is 3 1/2″ long end to end with the two thru-bolt holes 3″ apart. Drill to the 3″ spacing; the DWG and PDF spec sheet in Downloads show the same figure.

Which appliances is the 3-inch handle intended for?

Panel-ready dishwashers, beverage and wine fridges, freezer drawers and compact appliance panels from any brand, where a full-length bar would be out of scale. It also suits narrow pantry and cabinet doors next to a tall ‘I’, ‘J’ or ‘L’ handle. Confirm the panel thickness is 3/4″–2 1/4″.

What door thickness does the thru-bolt hardware fit?

Fixing hardware for doors and panels from 3/4″ (19 mm) to 2 1/4″ (57 mm) thick is included with every thru-bolt handle. That range covers standard interior doors, appliance panels and most millwork. For thicker doors, contact JWL for longer bolts before ordering.

How far does the 3-inch handle stand off the door?

2″ (51 mm) from the door face to the outside of the bar — the same projection as the full-length JWL door handles, so a 3-inch grip and a 30-inch bar sit at the same depth on adjacent doors. The handle measures 1″W x 3.5″L x 1.5″H; the 1.5″ leg plus the 1/2″ deep bar gives the 2″ total.

Which finish should I choose, and will it match JWL cabinet pulls?

All five finishes — Brushed, Polished, Matte Black, Satin Brass PVD and White — are shared across JWL door handles, back-to-back sets and cabinet pulls, so one finish can run through a whole kitchen.
