Description
The ‘L’ face-mount handle brings JWL’s squared profile to barn doors: hand-welded solid 304 stainless steel, fixed to the door surface with concealed fasteners rather than bolted through, projecting 2″ (51 mm) from the door face, in 18 1/2″, 24 1/2″ and 30 1/2″ lengths (18″, 24″ and 30″ center to center). The reverse face stays clean, so the door sits flat to the wall on its track — barn, bypass, pocket and swing doors. Designed and assembled in Vancouver, BC; ships in 1–3 workdays.

Profile
Both ends return to the door at a right angle on a 1″ x 1/2″ D-section bar, giving a squared silhouette from the side. The ‘I’ (straight ends) and ‘J’ (one rounded end) face-mount handles use the same fixing, projection, lengths and five finishes, and all three match the thru-bolt door handles and JWL cabinet pulls.
Installation
Concealed surface fixing: the mounting hardware screws into the face of the door; no fasteners show and nothing passes through. Surface mounting hardware is included for doors at least 1″ (25 mm) thick, with no upper limit. Mark the center-to-center spacing from the DWG or PDF drawing in Downloads and check the 2″ projection against the track stand-off on sliding doors.
Care
Solid 304 stainless steel resists corrosion in kitchens and bathrooms. Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap and dry. Avoid chlorine-based cleaners and abrasive pads on the coated Matte Black, Satin Brass PVD and White finishes. Check thru-fixings once a year and snug them if the door has moved.
Frequently asked
Which length is right for my door?
For 84″–96″ barn doors the 30 1/2″ handle (30″ center to center) keeps proportion; 24 1/2″ (24″ C/C) suits standard 80″ doors and swing doors; 18 1/2″ (18″ C/C) suits narrow panels and wardrobe doors. Mount with the grip centred about 36–42″ above the floor.
What is the minimum door thickness?
1″ (25 mm), so the surface screws have enough material to hold. There is no maximum because the fixing does not pass through the door. For panels 3/4″–2 1/4″ thick where a through-fixing is acceptable, use the thru-bolt ‘L’ handle instead.
Does the handle clear the wall on a sliding barn door?
The bar projects 2″ (51 mm). Most barn door tracks hold the door 1/2″–1″ off the wall, so fit this handle on the room-facing side and use a recessed flush pull on the wall side, or add track spacers. Confirm the track’s stand-off before drilling.
Can I use the same handle on a swing door?
Yes. The face mount works on any hinged or sliding door at least 1″ thick, and is useful on swing doors where the reverse face carries a mirror, panel or second finish that should not be drilled through. Projection, lengths and finishes match the thru-bolt series.
Which finish should I choose, and will it match JWL cabinet pulls?
All five finishes — Brushed, Polished, Matte Black, Satin Brass PVD and White — are shared across JWL door handles, back-to-back sets and cabinet pulls, so one finish can run through a whole kitchen. Brushed and Polished are bare 304 stainless; Matte Black, Satin Brass PVD and White are coatings over the stainless. Order a hardware sample if you need to check colour against your cabinetry.
How quickly does it ship, and what is the warranty?
In-stock orders ship in 1–3 workdays from Vancouver, BC, to Canada and the US, with free shipping on orders over $500. JWL hardware carries a limited lifetime residential warranty on materials and workmanship; commercial installations are covered for 5 years on brushed stainless and 2 years on coated finishes.
