Every JWL handle is offered in five stainless finishes and three solid woods. Metal handles and their backplates can be ordered in a single finish or a split finish — a brass backplate under a black handle, for example. Stainless steel finishes
Brushed Stainless
Satin-brushed 304 stainless steel. The most specified finish — quiet, fingerprint-tolerant, and matched by most appliance panels.
Polished Stainless
Mirror-polished 304 stainless. Bright and reflective; pairs with polished chrome plumbing and glass.
Matte Black
A matte black coating over stainless steel. Reads as solid black at any angle; the current favourite on glass and white cabinetry.
Satin White
A soft white coating over stainless steel for handles that disappear into white millwork.
Satin Brass PVD
Warm brass tone applied by PVD, a hard vapour-deposited layer that keeps its colour without lacquer.
Solid wood
White Oak
Rift-cut white oak, machined in our Vancouver workshop. Clear-coated or uncoated for finishing on site.
Walnut
North American black walnut. Clear-coated or uncoated, with the same profiles and lengths as oak.
Stained Oak
White oak with a black stain and clear top coat — the grain still shows through.
Choosing a finish. Brushed stainless is the safe default and the easiest to match across appliances. Matte black and satin brass carry the most contrast on light cabinetry. For wood handles, order uncoated if the millworker will finish the whole run together, and clear-coated if the handles arrive last.
